New Year Buzz

My favorite holiday “F” words for the end of 2017: Family…Forgiveness…F*@Ked.
The holidays are about Joy, Peace, Love and yes, a few “F” words. I love the beginning of a new year because I can lament the previous year and kiss it good bye.
We all need some help around the holidays when it comes to exoneration, letting bygones be bygones, grudges, and burying the hatchet.
In lieu of sedatives, Nyquil, Ambien and plain old denial, the wine biz has taught me that good ole’ Bubbly always provides me with a happy glow (Buzz) and no morning after regrets.
Question: What travels under the speed of sound, 200 mph. or approximately 24-40 mph?
Answer: The popping cork from a bottle of disturbed Champagne is expelled anywhere from 24-40 mph.
There is one Champagne––French please––and in honor of a kindred spirit, the Madame Veuve Clicquot or widow Clicquot, that I name as the year-end bubbly drink…VEUVE CLICQUOT.
This year, or the residual from the previous year (I am a bit slow), has been a particularly hellish one for me when it comes to my three “F’s.”
Family: My son beat the odds of a 35 percent survival rate from ARDS and my Beloved Dad died.
Forgiveness: I forgive. Spare you the rest.
F*@ked: October 9, 2017 fires of Sonoma and Napa County devastated my livelihood, my history, my home, my vineyard and the memories that keep me alive.
My New Year’s resolution is quite simple: Dump the three “f’s” of 2017 and tell it all in 2018.
Today, I will start by pledging to address wine peeps about the biz, the trends, and the truths and lies (with a bit of spunk to ease you through your days).
Cheers and Happy New Year to all!
